Shelton's Salon & Spa, 5332 Georga Ave has been at this location for the past four years.  It's owner, Shelton Williams is the recepient of the 2006 Golden Scissors "Living Legend" award.

An institiution in the Washington, DC hair care industry Shelton opened his first salon in 1973.  He has a tremendous draw of all age groups and offers in addition to traditional hair care, barbering, waxing, manicures and pedicures.  There is an international flair, along with music from the 60's, 70's and 80's, with stylist who speak English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

No one to babysit your kid while to get your hair done, bring her or him along, they're welcome.  Last Saturday I watched as a little girl, 4 or 5 years old, very intently, styled hair on a practice head in a space that appeared to be set aside for very junior Stylist-In-Training.  Other kids were working on their hand held game devices while waiting for their moms or dads.   

Shelton has started administering SalonVoices demographic survey that will give him a clear reading of the types of services his clients want and are able to include in their schedules and finances.  After two months, he will administer the SalonVoices Crown Signature customer satisfaction survey to clients after they've completed services in the salon.  His clients responses will award him with a crown signature that reflects the level of services consistently received.
