Shelton's Salon & Spa, Now at 910 Gist Ave. moved to this loction Summer of 09.  It's owner, Shelton Williams is the recepient of the 2006 Golden Scissors "Living Legend" award.

An institiution in the Washington, DC hair care industry Shelton opened his first salon in 1973.  He has a tremendous draw of all age groups and offers in addition to traditional hair care, barbering, waxing, manicures and pedicures.  There is an international flair, along with music from the 60's, 70's and 80's, with stylist who speak English, Spanish, French and Arabic.

No one to babysit your kid while to get your hair done, bring her or him along, they're welcome.  Last Saturday I watched as a little girl, 4 or 5 years old, very intently, styled hair on a practice head in a space that appeared to be set aside for very junior Stylist-In-Training.  Other kids were working on their hand held game devices while waiting for their moms or dads.

Shelton will begin to administer the SalonVoices Customer Satisfaction Survey this Fall.  His clients responses will award him with a crown signature that reflects the level of services consistently received.
